We wanted to give you a little insight into who we are and how Soulspace Studios came about….

We are a couple living in country Victoria, we have two teenage children and have been spending our days together for twenty years this month. we met when I was about to turn 17 and Razz was 21, we have spent most of those years renovating and building… What a journey it has been…

It never ceases to amaze us how inspiration strikes. How a passing comment, a conversation with a friend or a random thought can be turned into a whole new path.

For as long as I can remember I have been creative. We both have. Creative, hands on and believers that anything is possible.

I love the entire creative process. I am always in awe of the daydream that turns to a vivid vision to a scribble on paper and finally to a materialized object sitting right in front of you.  Ohhhh, that is the stuff that gets me out of bed in the morning!

Our love of beautiful, homely spaces was discovered when we had our first child.

We were enjoying living with my parents but as the great Aussie dream goes, we wanted to own a place of our own.  At the time I was just 20 and Razz was 24.

We didn’t want to rent and we were on such a low income that buying an established house was out of the question for us.

We happened to notice a derelict house that had come up on the market. At $25,000 (that is not a typo, it was $25,000!!) and with loads of work to do (and with only $15,000 to do it) we threw ourselves into it and never looked back.

That first little two bedder on a ¼ acre block in our small country town was a beautiful family home in no time and the beginnings of a love affair with real estate began!

We have had many projects over the years but the one that started us on this journey was a holiday home that we built in Phillip Island.

We spent hour upon hour perfecting the design, making it just what we wanted and once it was complete we were (and still are) in heaven every time we step foot in the door.

Each and every person that visits us there or any of our guests that holiday rent it just don’t want to leave. It just has a feel that makes you breathe easy and the pace of life somehow slows down.

We would constantly have people telling us that they wish their house felt like that, that they wanted a space like that to enjoy.

Then Razz started building a home office for me. We designed it at home and built it in a big shed with the aim of transporting it to the block of land where would eventually live.

It was stunning, it made me feel creative and inspired. When I was in that space I truly felt like life was different. I know that sounds crazy but it is truly how I felt.

The comments were all the same as the holiday house, everyone who entered that studio wanted to have that feeling at home or at work or on holiday…

…and  Soulspace Studios was conceived.

That was twelve months ago now and we are so excited to be sharing one of our loves with people around Australia. We are so excited to be growing this from the ground up and providing a product that has been designed and built as if it were our own.

From the time a client decides that a Soulspace Studio is for them, we spend our time bringing it to life.

That includes lying in bed at night and walking through it in our heads. It includes waking up at three o’clock and wondering if a bi-fold would work better than French doors….all the way through to the hammer and nails, paint covered clothes  and delivering it to its new home. It is like being surrogate parents ….to a building ☺

We are looking so forward to sharing the stories of this journey with you and seeing how far and wide the Soulspace family spreads and we truly hope that anyone reading this realises that if you have a dream or a passion or a talent you should nurture it. You should jump in boots and all and give it all you’ve got because nothing feels as good as turning a dream to a reality!

With Love,

Bec & Razz xx
